All About Mrs. Morvant

My name is Marilyn Morvant and this is my 30th year of teaching in Jefferson Parish. I received my BA in teaching at UNO in 1986. I began my teaching career at Kate Middleton Elementary (when it was a kindergarten center). I have also taught at Catherine Strehle Elementary, Ella Pittman Elementary (for 1 semester), and Estelle Elementary. I've been at Marrero Academy for Advanced Academy since it's beginning in 2009. My first kindergarten students that I taught back in 1986 are now 35 years old. In 2004, I received National Board Certification as an Early Childhood Specialist. This means that I am certified to teach anywhere in the nation (not that I would ever leave Louisiana).

I have been married for 31 years and I have two adult children. I consider them my greatest accomplishments. My 27 year old son is a certified civil engineer who graduated from LSU and my 22 year old daughter will graduated from LSU this past May with a RN, BSN degree in nursing. It seems as though they were in Pre-K yesterday as the years certainly do pass quickly.

I love teaching our littlest mudbugs and I enjoy seeing my past students out and about in our community. I feel very fortunate to have been able to touch the lives of so many children and help them learn how to read and write.
